Whew!
11-14: an exciting new development for Dan is his recent appointment as Musical Director of the new Jazz at Chautauqua Workshop. This jazz workshop is for jazz students of all ages and abilities, and precedes the annual Jazz at Chautauqua jazz party, held at the Hotel Athenaeum on Chautauqua Lake in beautiful upstate New York. No less than eight world-class jazz performers will be on Dan's staff of instructors. The Workshop will include classes designed to help get fledgling improvisers swinging, and to show more experienced players tips to improve and deepen their playing. The extensive facilities, coupled with the comfortable accommodations and beautiful setting, all insure this will be a fun, unique musical and social experience for lucky students able to attend. For more information, please contact Ms. Nancy Griffith at: firstname.lastname@example.org or www.athenaeum-hotel.com
15-18: Dan joins about twenty other world-class jazz players for a weekend-plus of fun, swinging jazz at the Jazz at Chautauqua jazz party. This long-running event was introduced in Conneaut Lake, PA by the late Joe Boughton, who brought his personal ideas about jazz and the jazz party to the Hotel Athenaeum in Chautauqua, NY many years ago. Emphasis is on—but not confined to—more traditional jazz, and features an all-pro line-up in various interesting and exciting combinations throughout the weekend. The event's price includes hotel accommodation plus all food (excellent) and drinks (strong) served over the course of the four days. In keeping with Joe's original vision, there's music from morning 'til night, but somehow no one seems to get tired of tapping their feet.
